St Cuthbert’s Island off Lindisfarne: threatened by rising sea levels
Climericks, Schools, Colleges and the Election.
Here’s an idea which could help give some future adults an opportunity to make their voices heard
1. Schools/ colleges encourage pupils/ students either to write their own Climerick (ClimateLimerick) OR to illustrate one of the many now available on this blogsite.
2. Schools/ colleges invite all the local candidates into school to see the young peoples’ work.
3. Local press/ TV and any other media are invited
4. Students nominated in advance read their Climerick; or their artwork is displayed and the candidates are asked to respond (strict time limit, advised in advance,) how they/ their party react to the questions posed.
5. A tutor/ teacher critiques the responses while the candidates listen: they are NOT allowed to interrupt
6. The candidates leave and the student/ pupils debate the responses
7. A small team of students/ pupils is appointed to follow the candidates’ records in respect of Climate issues. Staff give assistance to the team to protest if promises/ policies are at variance with the Climerick event and media are alerted as appropriate.
Or to wrap that into a Climerick (!)
Could Clim’ricks become useful tools
to test would-be MPs in schools?
Students pen one – or draw
a verse shaped before.
Then the kids probe; Smart-Eco’s or Fools?
