It is always a joy to see news that will have real impact towards speeding the green and clean energy revolution , which is undoubtedly well and truly on the way.
Recently (May 2026) Ireland, France, Columbia and Tuvalu committed to producing RoadMaps to transition away from Fossil Fuels. The same process is being considered in many other countries (Reported in New Scientist 7th May 2026 under the heading ‘Will Colombia summit kick-start the end of the fossil fuel era?’)
This is a huge encouragement, even if projected dates for beneficial change would ideally be far more quickly than those featuring in existing plans. As yet, China, US and Russia are not engaged with this process but 57 countries were invited to the transition summit which will apply pressure on countries hitherto disinclined to commit.
To celebrate this encouraging move, Here is a song called ‘Transition Song’, to the well-known and lovely tune ‘How Can I Keep From Singing’.
Whilst the song starts with a simple invitation to sing, the second and third verses offer opportunities for many people to become truly engaged with the transition by petitioning politicians to produce ‘road maps’ and reinforce pressure on financial institutions to switch support from dirty dangerous fuels to clean, green energy sources.
TRANSITION SONG - To the tune ‘How Can I Keep From Singing’
Let’s sing a great transition song.
for fossil fuels are dying:
clean energy is on the rise:
see foul-fuel backers crying.
Electric cars and air source pumps
and simple solar lighting
are peaceful weapons in a war
humanity is fighting.
Make politicians who’d survive
draw road maps to transition,
to eco-energy’s great gift
of healthy earth conditions.
Wind turbines, mighty waterpower
and solar panels righting
the wrongs and ills of dirty fuels.
For this, just keep on fighting.
Force bankers and great pension funds
to speed us on our journey,
where energy is only clean
and Earth is far more healthy.
Electric cars and air source pumps
and simple solar lighting,
are peaceful weapons in a war
humanity is fighting.
