FOOD WASTE DAMAGES THE CLIMATE - but EVERYONE who is fortunate enough to enjoy the privilege of regular meals, can take action
WRAP is a global environmental action NGO transforming our broken product and food systems to create Circular Living for the benefit of climate, nature and people. On its website it shows these horrendous statistics
At least 1.3 billion metric tons of food is wasted globally each year.
Food waste is estimated by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to contribute 8-10% of total man-made greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
This affects everyone on the planet, so it would be good for children to be aware of this issue from an early age. Awareness can be built through song.
So here is the first CHILDREN’S FOODSENSE SONG on this blog: it can be sung to the lively Zulu tune Bambalela
Never Waste Food
Chorus:
Never Waste Food, O Never waste food, (x2)
O never, never, never,
Never waste food
It will help the planet.
Chorus:
Only buy what’s needed.
Chorus:
Use left-overs wisely.
Chorus:
Eat all on your pla-ate.
Chorus: twice to end
